For both cases; the Ottoman monarch and the mighty dynasty led by the Shah Abbas, the empire was collapsing due to the leader's wrong decision. They have decided to kill their sons which were actually the finest sons in which had potentials to lead the empire successfully.
Also, the lack of organization and resources within the empire (by the end of Aurangzeb's reign), over 2 million citizens died because of famine. And that happened while the emperor (Aurangzeb) was away leading the war. Because of the citizen's deaths, most of the citizens lost their loyalty towards the emperor.
